Grain Storage Building

Bulk Grain Storage Made Simple

AgriBilt® makes grain storage easy and cost-effective with our durable Quonset grain storage buildings. Our structures are engineered to endure harsh weather conditions, including strong winds and heavy snow, while our steel panels offer airtight seals for exceptional protection against moisture and the elements so that your grain stays dry and secure.

From large to small farm grain storage, AgriBilt® steel barns come in various sizes to meet your exact needs. See our Grain Storage Data Guide for full details on storage capacities and restrictions based on best practices, grain type, and building size.

Quonset Grain Storage

Maximizing the efficiency of Quonset grain storage depends on several important factors, including the method of loading, the use of endwall bracing kits, and the specific type of grain being stored. Different grains—such as barley, corn, oats, alfalfa, and wheat—have varying densities and moisture content, both of which directly impact how much can be safely stored.

To ensure your Quonset grain storage building is used most effectively, it’s important to consider details such as pounds per cubic feet and pounds per bushel. These metrics help prevent overloading, which could lead to structural issues like deformation or buckling of the building. Follow our guidelines to make sure this does not happen.

Here are some important things to keep in mind when using a Quonset, flat grain storage building:

  • Do not modify the arches of your building as this will weaken the structure
  • No grain should touch endwalls unless the endwalls are properly reinforced

  • Avoid the use of skylights in any section of building to be used as grain storage
  • Grain should only be loaded from peak to balance pressure on both sides of the building

  • Grain should be unloaded from center first, then in equal amounts from both sides to keep grain quantities balanced

  • Grain aeration should be applied through a system of fans and ducts in or on the floor—do not cut holes in arches!

Hoop buildings for grain storage made with the highest quality steel:

  • Features 55% aluminum and 43% zinc alloy
  • 7 times more rust resistant than regular galvanized steel

  • High heat reflectivity and energy efficiency

  • Perfect for use in all climates
